UP opens 62nd Festival de Cannes

UP opens 62nd Festival de Cannes

To celebrate UP being the opening Ceremony film of the 62nd Festival de Cannes, the film makers and French voice talent teamed UP to kick start the festival and a host of media adventures with a bang.

The group's first stop began with a photo shoot on the Carlton Pier with lead character Carl Fredricksen's house and balloons as a back drop.

To mark UP's arrival in Cannes, John Lasseter (executive producer and chief creative officer for Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios) was joined by Pete Docter (director), Jonas Rivera (producer), Bob Peterson (Co-Director/Screenplay/Story/English voice of Dug/Alpha) and Ed Catmull (computer animation pioneer who helped create Pixar Animation Studios and now serves as president of both Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios), Charles Aznavour and Tom Trouffier (French voices of Carl and Russell, respectively) as they all handed out balloons to passers by.

The group laughed and joked as their pictures were taken in the Cannes sunshine in just one of many events to celebrate UP being the first 3D film ever to serve as the Opening Ceremony film at the Cannes Film Festival.
